About the Department:

Department of Political Science is one of the oldest Departments of Kanchrapara College and it runs from the day of establishment of the College, i.e. 1972. The department offers General/Programme and Honours Courses for the students since 1972P.U, 1973(B.A-Gen) and 1980 (Hons.) in the day shift. B.A. General/Programme Course opens in the evening shift from 2011. Eminent teachers are engaged in the department. The Departmental Teachers are providing Textbooks, Reference Books, Journals, Reputed websites for the students. Teachers use the modern technique such as ICT or Computer-aided methods – ppt. forteaching. Students may discuss any subject matter with the departmental teachers both in classroom and outside the classroom. In addition, some time teaching-learning go on through online. The students of political science are able to use enriched Central Library as well as Departmental library. Apart from mainstream education, the department engages various co-curricular activities such as organizing local/state level/national level/international seminar, wall magazine, awareness programme of basic of Indian constitution etc. The students of political science are also engaged in NSS college unit. Over the year the department successfully move on with the full satisfaction of both students and authority. Future plan of the Department is to open a M.A. regular course for the greater interest of students as well as education.
