Department of Food and Nutrition

About the Department:

The exclusive journey of the department of Food & Nutrition in this college was instated in 2010. It is exclusive as no other college under University of Kalyani offers an Honours course in this subject. This subject is an intermingling of different sciences. Hence, we provide relevant and required subject expertise and laboratory facilities. The departmental students are able to acquire knowledge of concerned subjects through the able guidance of the experts. They also gain experience and get acquainted with the practical scenario through different survey activities conducted in association with local communities, slums, ICDS center, schools, hospitals, food processing industry etc. The laboratories are equipped with proper and essential instruments, reagents and other important aids so that students are able to get appropriate training of laboratory work for all subjects.

Different cultural programmes are organized by departmental students. "National Nutrition Month" is also organized and celebrated every year by the students and teachers of the department through community education, health check programme, seminars and poster competitions.
