The Department of Zoology was established in 1989 as a General Degree Course in B.Sc. From the academic session 1999-2000 the college was the first to receive affiliation from University of Kalyani to introduce Zoology as an Undergraduate Honors subject, with no other college under KU offering this course. During the past years the department has made an all-round progress and acquired a position among the leading departments in this college as well as in the University of Kalyani. The academic excellence of the department is evident from its illustrious alumni who are engaged in several fields of teaching, research and other jobs. The department has seven highly qualified and motivated faculty members providing & quality education and two student friendly laboratory attendants catering to each laboratory need.

The department boasts of good infrastructural facilities that include ICT enabled classrooms, a well-equipped laboratory, a rich museum and a departmental library with a good number of printed books and accessible e-books. As part of the academic curriculum, the department arranges regular compulsory excursions for field study. Students actively participate in various social works and are culturally enriched.
