Microbiology was introduced in Kanchrapara College at the UG level in 2008. Three years B.Sc. Honours course commenced in Microbiology with affiliation from University of Kalyani. Under the CBCS semester system which came into effect from the academic year 2018-19, the three years UG course is divided into six semesters. Initially, students in the department were limited but year by year total number of seats sanctioned by the university began to increase along with the number of students. The students from this college have consistently secured outstanding marks every year and have been university rank-holders. This department has two classrooms cum laboratory with well-equipped laboratory items. The alumni from this department pursue higher studies or engage in research activities in reputed institutes after successfully completing their graduation program. Some of them are also employed in IT jobs and in jobs in other private sectors.
